On Wednesday evening, December 7th, an enthusiastic group of almost 90 oral health supporters from across the state gathered at COHI’s Annual Meeting, at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, CT to honor the organization’s work and hear addresses by Jeannette DeJesús, Special Advisor to the Governor on Healthcare Reform, and Mark Masselli, founder and CEO of Community Health Center, Inc. of Middletown. Each discussed the status of oral health care in Connecticut and shared their personal and professional insights on the subject.
Bruce Gould, associate dean for primary care at the UConn School of Medicine, and director of the Connecticut Area Health Education Center Program was the recipient of the 2011 Howard I. Mark Advocate for Oral Health Award. Dr. Gould also serves as medical director of the Burgdorf Health Center and Hartford’s Department of Health and Human Services.
Howard Mark, DDS, founder and board president of COHI, shared a brief history of COHI’s work, its supporters, and the challenges that lie ahead. Although he will remain an active board member, he relinquished his ten-year position as president to Robin Knowles, longtime COHI board member.
COHI’s newest board members were introduced: Michal Bobryk, Jace D’Amico, Susan Lackman, Rebecca Pandolfo, and Susan Roberts.
